Families can register for Brighter Bites Cityscape Schools families can now register for Brighter Bites, which provides participating families with access to fresh produce and nutrition resources during the school year. Families need to complete only one registration for their household. During registration, select Dallas as the city and Charters as the district. Buckner Preparatory families should select Buckner, while East Grand Preparatory and Early Childhood Center families should select East Grand. Brighter Bites distributions are scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. on designated distribution days. Early Childhood Center families will follow the East Grand Preparatory distribution schedule and pick up their produce through the East Grand car line. Families who would like to help with campus distributions can also complete the Brighter Bites parent volunteer interest form. EGP opens flag football season with shutout

EGP opens flag football season with shutout East Grand Preparatory’s boys flag football team earned its first reported win of the season Sept. 16, shutting out KIPP Pleasant Grove 22-0 at Premier Park in Balch Springs. The victory followed a challenging opening stretch for the Eagles. East Grand began the season Aug. 31 with a 20-12 loss at KIPP Pleasant Grove before falling 44-12 to St. Anthony School on Sept. 4 and 42-12 to Uplift Atlas on Sept. 9. Those three league-reported results gave East Grand 36 points scored through its first three recorded finals.  The Sept. 16 rematch with KIPP Pleasant Grove marked a sharp turnaround for East Grand, with the Eagles holding their opponent scoreless in the reported 22-0 victory. East Grand is scheduled to continue its season at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, against St. Anthony School at Lincoln High School Field, 2826 Elsie Faye Heggins St. in Dallas. The Eagles then travel to Uplift Atlas for a 5:30 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 25.  The regular-season schedule continues with a home game against Uplift Luna at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Premier Park, followed by a 5:30 p.m. road game against Uplift Luna on Oct. 2.  Families can follow East Grand Preparatory athletics TCSAAL updates for the latest scores and schedule information.

EGP volleyball builds early-season momentum

EGP volleyball builds early-season momentum East Grand Preparatory’s middle school girls volleyball team has opened the 2026 season with several competitive matches as the Lady Eagles work through their TCSAAL Division 1 schedule. East Grand opened the season Aug. 27 with a 2-0 road victory over St. Philip’s School, winning 25-12 and 25-18. The Lady Eagles then fell 2-0 at KIPP Pleasant Grove on Sept. 1 before returning home two days later for a three-set victory over St. Anthony School. East Grand won the opening set 25-23, dropped the second 19-25 and secured the match with an 18-16 win in the deciding set.  The Lady Eagles followed with losses to Uplift Atlas on Sept. 8 and Uplift Luna on Sept. 11. Against Uplift Luna, East Grand fell 11-25 in the first set before narrowing the margin in a 23-25 second set. TCSAAL lists East Grand at 2-3 through its first five reported finals.  The team’s next match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at St. Anthony School in Dallas. East Grand is also scheduled to visit Uplift Atlas on Sept. 29 and Uplift Luna on Oct. 1, with both matches beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The Lady Eagles’ 10-player roster includes America Ibarra, Ashley Baustista, Aubriel Plaisimond, Josselin Mendez, Kenya Mora, Mia Flores, Serenity Flood, Symone Washington, Vienna Nicolas-Pena and Violet Perez.  Families can follow the Lady Eagles’ schedule and results throughout the season through the Texas Charter School Academic & Athletic League.

Cityscape, Hispanic Heritage Foundation Inspire Students at Career Event

Students and families gathered at East Grand Preparatory on Saturday, Sept. 13, for “Navigating Your Academic & Professional Future,” a morning of inspiration, learning and connection hosted in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC. The event, held from 9 a.m. to noon, offered free breakfast and interactive workshops for 5th–8th grade students and their parents. Participants explored career paths, discovered their strengths and learned from the academic journeys of Latino professionals. Workshops focused on enhancing education and experience, while raffles and free child care for Cityscape Pre-K through 4th grade students helped make the event accessible for families. Panelists Share Expertise A highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring accomplished Latino leaders from diverse fields: Gilberto Atayde, Vice President of Operations at the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, shared insights on economic development and leadership. Atayde brings extensive experience from corporate operations and nonprofit advocacy, as well as board service across North Texas. Ana Cruz Hollingsworth, Emmy-winning journalist and founder of Rollos de Mujeres Media, inspired attendees with her story of resilience and success in media. She is also the host of the bilingual podcast Let’s Talk ROLLOS. Ray Casas, Senior Director of Community Impact for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, discussed his decades-long career in public relations and his commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Marie Mendoza, Ph.D., Executive Director for Emergent Bilingual Programs at Fort Worth ISD, emphasized the importance of bilingual education and shared her journey through leadership roles in large urban school districts. https://youtu.be/j8pU0a0t9Iw
