Candidates for East Grand Preparatory’s student council presented their platforms during a school-wide meeting held Thursday, Sept. 18, in the EGP gym.

The event began at 8:30 a.m. and featured speeches from students across grades 6 through 8. Following the presentations, students cast their votes to elect the council’s executive officers for the 2025-26 school year.

Gustavo Basio Cruz, an eighth grader, was elected student body president. Three vice presidents were also selected to represent each grade level: Edgardo Segura (8th grade), Ivan Leija (7th grade), and Symone Washington (6th grade).

Class representatives will be elected this week during homeroom sessions.

The student council serves as a leadership body that promotes school spirit, organizes events, and represents student interests in collaboration with faculty and administration.
