Cityscape Schools continues to make the best decisions possible in the light of the new increasing COVID-19 transmission rate in Dallas County.  Last week, Dallas County upgraded its COVID-19 risk level to Red-High Risk Transmission due to the spike in cases related to the Delta variant.  Cityscape will continue to monitor the current changing environment and make any changes necessary to protect the health of its students and staff.          At this time, Cityscape is following Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-36, prohibiting governmental entities in Texas (including school districts and charter schools) from requiring or mandating the wearing of masks.  Regardless, Cityscape strongly recommends every student and staff member wear a mask for the new school year. Cityscape will continue to do everything possible to ensure your child's safety by following all the recommended COVID-19 protocols.  At each campus, these protocols are: 1) self-screening for COVID-like symptoms, 2) quarantining and close contact tracing as needed, 3) social distancing when feasible, 4) acrylic shields will be at all desks and cafeteria tables, 5) handwashing or the use of hand sanitizer throughout the day, and 6) daily cleaning and sanitizing of all classrooms, offices, and common areas. FACE-TO-FACE INSTRUCTION The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has announced that no public schools will continue with at-home/online learning.  Last year, COVID-19 created massive learning loss among Texas students, including your children.  Face-to-face instruction is the best and only method to ensure the success of your children's future educational and vocational goals.  Further, your student's social and emotional well-being depends on attending face-to-face classes.  We will continue to do everything possible to ensure your child's safety and continue to be transparent in reporting any COVID-19 cases…

Uniform Expectations Update

  • Post published:August 5, 2021
  • Reading time:3 mins read

After recent discussions with our uniform provider, Levine’s, we have learned that they are facing employee and material shortages like so many other businesses and companies across our nation during these trying times.  According to their spokesperson, they have general pieces of our uniform available, but not with the school logo or crest.  It is taking an additional 10 days to get the crests sewn on to the individual uniform pieces. Therefore, in an effort to help and assist our parents and families, we will not enforce our formal uniform dress code during the first nine-week grading period of the 2021-2022 academic school year. For the families who have already purchased our uniforms, we ask that you please send your students in uniform.  As Levine’s begins to complete the orders for all our families, we ask that parents begin to send students in full uniform.  Students need to understand that the formal dress code will go into effect on October 25, 2021, which is the first day of the second nine-week grading period.  Last year, for those students who attended face-to-face, we developed the following dress code for a non-uniform dress code: Non-uniform dress code For those families who were not able to begin school with full uniforms from Levine’s, we ask that you follow the attached rules and regulations until the formal dress code is mandatory (October 25, 2021).   To reach out to Levine’s for orders, please call 214-948-7396 or go to their website at www.levinesstores.com. As a side note, we have learned that our former vendor, Affordable Uniforms, still has some uniform pieces at their stores.  Please feel free to contact them at 214-206-1977 or go to their…

Data shows that the pandemic has had a significant impact on student learning, both across the country and in Cityscape Schools. Cityscape Schools is launching a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process to help determine how it should potentially spend additional federal dollars to address unfinished learning and COVID-19 recovery. The American Rescue Plan signed into law in March by President Joe Biden included $122 billion in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds for school districts across the country, which is the single largest investment in federal elementary and secondary education in the nation’s history. Cityscape Schools has applied to receive some of that additional funding. See the COVID-19 Guidelines, which will continue to be updated throughout the summer as needed based on updated recommendations. TAKE THIS SURVEY All parents, district employees, students and community members are urged to complete a survey to help the district determine what to prioritize with the potential ESSER funds.
