Maria Jose Lopez
Director of Early Childhood
Maria Jose Lopez is the Director of Early Childhood for Cityscape Schools. Ms. Lopez is responsible for the curriculum, instruction and implementation of the Early Childhood Program. She provides district leadership in coaching, technical assistance, and professional development to the teachers and staff in prekindergarten through second grades general education classrooms as well as those in the Dual Language Program.
Ms. Lopez works together with teachers to provide high quality instruction through developmentally appropriate practices & curriculum in supportive learning environments. Ms. Lopez joined Cityscape Schools in 2017 with the philosophy of building the whole child and has created and led the Early Childhood Program that now successfully serves the academic and social needs of the students in our Cityscape Community.
Ms. Lopez came to Cityscape Schools from Dallas ISD where she served as a teacher for eight years, as a Bilingual Instructional Coach for grades Pre-K trough 5th for four years, and as an Early Childhood Instructional Specialist for Pre-K through 2nd grade for an additional four years. She is a firm believer that early childhood development sets a crucial foundation for students’ cognitive and social-emotional skills that will make a lasting impact. Ms. Lopez has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M International University and a master’s degree in Early Childhood with a specialization in Bilingual Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
