Director of Special Projects
Ms. Carol Thorne has served as the Director of Special Projects since April 2016. As Director of Special Projects, Ms. Thorne’s responsibilities include assisting in the attainment of Charter School objectives by providing technical assistance to staff in the areas of State law compliance and financial compliance, including working with the Superintendent to ensure required compliance and financial reports submitted to the TEA are accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Prior to her current position, Ms. Thorne served as the Assistant Superintendent to the Charter School from 2007 to March 2016. From 1996 to 2007, she was the President of Essential Support Services, Inc., an entity that worked with charter schools to ensure financial integrity and compliance with State and federal programs. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Superintendent with S&S Consolidated Schools from 1991 to 1996. Ms. Thorne obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma – Cameron in 1976, her Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Louisiana - Monroe in 1984 and her Certification for Principal/Superintendent from Texas A&M Commerce in 1993.
